A medical image printer is a thermal imaging printer designed to receive image data transmitted over a network in DICOM format. It primarily interfaces via the DICOM protocol to meet the requirements of CT (computed tomography), MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), digital radiography, fluoroscopy, picture archiving and communication systems, nuclear medicine, portable radiography, mammography, dentistry, and other imaging applications. Using the printer’s direct thermal imaging technology, it produces high‑quality grayscale prints suitable for diagnostic use.
